Why breakfast is NOT the most important meal of the day

OKAY ….

So I know you are thinking “WTF Nancy”?

But I thought it was the most important meal of the day?

UMMMM ! No not exactly?

Remember I told you I would teach you my unique methods to weight loss and reducing fat and cellulite?

Let me start with one of my favourite quotes by Albert Einstein to help you embrace my  “unique way” of losing weight, which in turn will be the mindset you carry for your weight loss goals, your transformation and to creating the new you.

Doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.

That is the definition of insanity”

If you do the same things all the time: you will get the same results.  How can you expect different?

Let me tell you some reasons WHY you and many others have failed in your weight loss goals in the past:

1. You are eating by the conventional means society dictates; breakfast, lunch and dinner.

2.   You are not eating enough, OR you are eating too frequently, even when consuming small portions       throughout the day.

3. Eating healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables does not always translate into weight loss.

This used to be me…until I decided to practice  “Intermittent Fasting” (IF)

Guess what? My life changed!  The weight started PEELING off me and I was able to keep it off year round!

I know I have your attention. I can tell you more.

Let me break down what I mean.

You committed to eating healthier so you wake up to start the day with a good wholesome breakfast including oatmeal, eggs, and fruit.

A few hours after breakfast you are already starving, so throughout the day you decided to eat a variety proteins, fruits, various nuts etc.

Taking a snapshot of this day, you felt great because you didn’t eat sugary foods like chocolate or snack bars etc.

WRONG.

The amount of fat and sugar you consumed ended up being the same if you had consumed a small chocolate bar (yes you heard me!) due to  the amount of fruit and dairy you ate. Moreover the fat content was the same .

What ?? Why??

Because all the nuts you ate were completely loaded with fat, and finally you ate right until you went to bed at 10pm.

So… not only did you go over your calorie and macronutrients needed for the day, but you ate throughout the entire day, the norm that society dictates.

I know you are shaking your head right?

Because this is you???

The NEW YOU starts with ….Intermittent Fasting (IF) 

With Intermittent Fasting (IF), this is a style of eating that restricts/dictates your eating for extended periods of time. Your food is eaten during a predetermined feeding window.  There are different fasting protocols for example, fasting for 16 hours and eating for 8 hours

Let me explain…

Think about how fat is mobilized. After you eat, insulin and fatty acids are elevated.

You are in a fed state and there is zero fat burning taking place. Your body is relying completely on glucose oxidation during the hours after your meals.

Lets get you started…

When I say skip breakfast , I am saying to move your breakfast meal until 12pm (noon).

So in short…TRY THIS!

  1. Wake up and drink 500 mils of warm lemon water

  2. Continue to drink liquids only until noon including water, tea or coffee ( without sugar or cream. 1 teaspoon of low fat milk is okay)

  3. Consume your first meal of “breakfast” at 12pm noon

  4. Stop eating at 8pm

By doing this you are in a state of fasting for 16 hours which means you are BURNING FAT WHILE YOU SLEEP AND ALL DAY

TRY IT!

FAT BURING. Yes! Yes! Yes!

Now obviously this is only a baby step to reviving up your metabolism and fat burning.
