Are Your Snacks Sabotaging your Weight Loss Goals ?
I hear it all the time.
Client: “ Nancy” “I eat healthy foods, but I still can’t manage to lose weight”
Nancy: Please break down what a daily food intake looks like”.
Client: I eat 3-4 smaller meals a day and a few snacks like nuts, yogurt, crackers etc…
(Psss.t This always becomes a teaching moment for many seeking help with their fitness and weight loss goals.)
Remember this. “Eating Healthy foods is not the same as eating for weight loss”
Let’s break this down. And when I do break it down analyzing and explain the result of their eating habits, I see the “Ah-ha moment”.
So, you may want to revisit your food intake. Always look at the portion sizes and nutritional facts on the label to see the REAL calculation of fats, carbs and proteins.
For example:
🧃Yogurt
In essence yogurt is a healthy food however when you look the label, it contains 18 grams of sugar, which is the equivalent to what you would find in a chocolate bar. YES!
🥜…and Almonds/Nuts – we try to have a couple, or a few but that ends up being a large handful, as you “grab and pick”.
¼ cup of Almonds that little tiny bit has 15g of FAT. 😱 Yep! Multiply that by the few handfuls and that is enough to ruin your macronutrients and calories for the day.
So, the next time you reach for a snack. Take the time to understand the caloric and macronutrient breakdown. Sometimes it’s just a matter of some education and guidance.
